What is a Fan Isolator?
| Fan Isolator switches also known as 3 Pole Isolator Switches. They are rated to accept a load not exceeding 10 amps and are generally used to isolate an extractor fan. They can be used with fans that have a timer or on a standard type without a timer. They are useful as they enable the fan to be isolated then subsequently disconnected for repair or maintenance. The terminology Three Pole means that the switch breaks both the live poles and the Neutral pole – this is widely regarded as the safest way to isolate an electrical load on an extractor fan. Fan Isolator Switches can be installed in the bathroom, but only in the strictest of conditions. It must be out of reach of any person using the bath or shower. Our Fan Isolator Switches have an earth terminal as well as 4 live and 2 neutral terminals and these terminals will accept up to 3 x 1.5mm Twin & Earth Cables. We recommend 25mm deep wall boxes for mounting our Fan Isolator switches or 35mm deep wall boxes for shallow or flat plate ranges. |
